PASTOR WALTER B. SMITH was born in Buffalo, NY, in January 1951.He was soon taken by his parents to a Bible preaching church in Springboork, NY. He was spirtually born again as a young boy by placing his faith in Jesus Christ as personal Saviour, trusting Him alone to save his soul. He felt called to full-time Christian service in his early teen years. After marrying his childhood sweetheart, Paula, he surrendered to preach under the ministry of Dr. John R. Rice, who directed them to Midwestern Baptist College in Pontiac, Michigan. He graduated from Midwestern Baptist College in 1974 and was ordained into the Gospel ministry by Emmanuel Baptist Church in Pontiac, Michigan. Since that time, he has been a pastor of independent Baptist churches for 29 years and was in the ministry of Evangelism for 10 years. Thankfully, it is said by many that his preaching of the Word is clear and concise, tempered by compassion, and bears the blessing of the Holy Spirit.

WHAT WE BELIEVE:
1. We believe the Holy Scriptures are the verbally inspired Word and Revelation of God. The Bible is inerrant, infallible, God-breathed, and to be to be taken literally. They are of supreme and final authority in faith and life. We unashamedly hold the King James Bible up as the Bible preserved by God for English speaking people. Psalm 19:7-11; II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:16-21..
2. We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Ghost. I John 5:1-8.
3. We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, and born of Mary, a virgin, and is true God and true man.
4. We believe that man was created in the image of God, that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also that spiritual death which is separation from God; and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature, and, in the case of those who reach the age of moral responsibility, are sinners in thought, word, and deed.
5. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for my sins according to the Scriptures as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who believe in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood. Hebrews 2:9; John 6:44-69
6. We believe in the 'Eternal Security' of the believer; that it is impossible for one born into the family of God ever to be lost.
7. We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into heaven, and in His present life there as High Priest and Advocate.
8. We believe in 'that blessed hope' - the personal, premillennial, pretribulational and imminent return of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, when the Church will be 'gathered together unto Him.'
9. We believe in the literal fulfillment of the prophecies and promises of the Scriptures which foretell and assure the future regeneration and restoration of Israel as a nation.
10. We believe that all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God.
11. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting punishment of the lost.
12. We believe that the Scriptural ordinances of the Church are Baptism and the Lord's Supper; that Baptism, by immersion, should be administered to believers only as a symbol of their belief in the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and as a testimony to the world of that belief and of their death, burial and resurrection with Him; and that the Lord's Supper should be partaken of by believers only to show forth His death, till He come.

1. What can I expect when I visit? You will find a warm, friendly congregation waiting to welcome you. Regardless of your nationality, income level, education level, or occupation in life, there is a place for you and your family in our church family. Our Sunday Morning Worship service is between one hour and eighty minutes long and includes congregational singing, special music, testimonies, and the preaching and teaching of God's Word, the Bible.
2. Do I have to bring a Bible? We believe the Bible is God's only Word for us today and is the instruction manual for this life and all eternity. There are plenty of extra Bibles in each pew that are within arm's reach of your seat during the church service in case you didn't bring one. Our church uses the regular Authorized Verison of the Bible; commonly called the King James Version.
3. Will I be asked to give money? Giving an offering is simply an act of worship and obedience for the folks who call Heritage Baptist Church their church home. As a visitor, you just being here is enough. So, please don't feel obligated to give when the offering plates are passed, unless you freely desire to do so.
4. Do you have a nursery for my baby? We love children! We believe it is important for families to worship together. However, we have a nursery staffed with caring volunteers for the young children age 3 and under during all of our services in case you need it. Your child's safety and spiritual well-being is important to us.
5. Do you offer spiritual counseling? Most of life's problems and issues can be solved by simply applying the Biblical truths given during the regular church services. However, if you have spiritual questions or spiritual problems that need more personal attention, please feel free to contact Pastor Smith to schedule a time to meet in person.
6. What are your facilities like? Our church building is ground level and totally handicap accessible. There is plenty of off-street parking in front of and in back of our building, right at our doors.
7. What is an Baptist church? As an independent Baptist church, we are not affiliated with any particular Baptist denomination or ruling body. Because of this we support our own missionaries, select our own leaders, and support institutions that believe as we believe. In short, our church answers to the headship of Jesus Christ rather than a denominational body. There are currently more than 10,000 independent Baptist churches in America and thousands more throughout the world.
